It has been brought to the attention of the moderators of SCJH that the book, 'The Pink Swastika, may be based upon spurious research and that it makes certain inaccurate claims about the causes of the Shoah.

We do not intend to get into any in-depth discussion on the claims of the book. In private communications with those contacting us, we have explained that our understanding of the charter is such that the SCJH's focus is centered arund the events of the early part of this century, and the aftermath of those events, involving Europe, the Third Reich and the hoodlums who ran it, as pertains to Jews. To that extent, we originally did not permit postings regarding the 'Pink Swastika' because SCJH is not a forum for the discussion of general issues involving Judaism & Homosexuality (for that, see any of the groups relating to homosexuals and/or, for matters relating to Jewish views on homosexuality, soc.culture.jewish). Nor do we feel that everything involving Germany's leadership (whether truly or falsely reported) in the early part of this century is necessarily related to the Shoah.

However, at the same time, we wish to make it clear that we do not support propagandistic writing maligning innocent groups.

For that reason, we felt it was necessary to note that we have blocked posts by the author of the 'Pink Swastika' in which he tried to propagate his views, but we did allow other posts of his which contained the information that he was the author of the 'Pink Swastika' in the signature line. This was not an endorsement of the book (which we personally had not read, nor did we know anything about it, except that we had rejected previous attempts by the author to discuss his views on SCJH).

Future posts on the topic must meet the requirements of the charter. This is true of ALL posts on ALL potential topics. This is not a forum for the discussion of homosexuality---neither AGAINST nor FOR. It is a group devoted to the discussion of the Shoah. Although Nazi Germany targetted many individuals, this moderated group was not formed as another soc.history.war.world-war-ii, alt.revisionism, etc.

This moderator note has been an attempt to clarify that we do not support the views of the author of the 'Pink Swastika', while explaining why we've been blocking posts which attack (or defend) his book. It is not the place or purpose (nor do we have the time!) of the SCJH moderators to review every book on the market. We evaluate each post as it comes to us against our understanding of the charter. Whether we personally disagree with or agree with the authors of the posts is (to us) irrelevant in deciding whether to allow a post. The moderators do not necessarily all share the same views about various issues (including homosexuality), but we attempt to moderate according to our best understanding of the charter.

Finally, we wish to state categorically that we will not allow SCJH to be used for 'gay-bashing'. SCJH's raison d'etre is discussion of the Shoah, and it would be an ironic perversion of our purpose if this forum was used to attack any group within present day society.
